Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery recently answered a call for a heavy duty recovery job in Du Bois, PA. A heavy haul tractor-trailer had been disabled and had overheated on Interstate 80, near mile marker 96 in DuBois, PA. A heavy duty recovery team was needed to tow the tractor-trailer.
The truck was a tri-axle Peterbilt tractor which was towing a 6-axle heavy haul lowboy trailer with a Jeep and booster for the heavy load. The trailer was loaded with a rough terrain crane, and the combined weight of all the vehicles and trailer was over 165,000 pounds, causing the overheating and need for heavy recovery.
The heavy duty recovery team of Bigler Boyz arrived at the scene and assessed the situation. The tractor and trailer were partially blocking the right lane of Interstate 80. While the Pennsylvania State Police provided assistance with traffic control, the heavy duty recovery crew hooked up to the unit for towing.
The combination was towed by the heavy duty recovery team to I-80 exit 97 in Falls Creek, Pennsylvania. They dropped the trailer at the exit in a safe location in order for the tractor-trailer’s company to repower the heavy haul trailer. To complete the heavy recovery, the tractor was towed to the Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery location in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
After the heavy duty recovery was completed, it was determined that the engine was blown up and would need to be rebuilt. The tractor-trailer company had the heavy recovery and towing crew of Bigler Boyz tow the tractor 140 miles to their location in Greencastle, Pennsylvania in order to complete the repairs.
